The European week for waste reduction (SERR) is an initiative originating within the LIFE programme of the European Commission, with the aim of promoting the creation of awareness on sustainability and on the proper management of waste in the course of a week.

It is an initiative that involves a wide range of audiences (public bodies, enterprises, civil society and citizens). SERR's goals are as follows:
• promote actions to reduce waste across Europe;
• raising awareness about possible strategies and European and national environmental policies;
• to highlight good examples of waste reduction;
• emphasize the connections between waste reduction, sustainable development and the fight against climate change.

In 2015, the Symposium of prevention will focus on dematerialisation: Doing more with less, promoting intelligent consumption and thereby reducing waste at source.
To pay attention on this issue, Comune di Francofonte, Esper and Svimed are organising a conference day 28 November 2015 Palazzo Cosentini, to illustrate the new waste management plan of the Comune di Francofonte and introduced some initiatives developed on the Hyblean area for the promotion of sustainable management of heritage.

Creative workshops for children at the recycling centre of Francofonte Ibla

The Comune di Francofonte and Svi. Med. – The Euro-Mediterranean Center for sustainable development Onlus, partners of the project SMOT Project, organize the third of four meetings, to present and engage citizens, public authorities, associations, schools, restaurants, bar, Hotel, local promotion activities that will take place between September and December 2015 within the recycling centre Francofonte Ibla. We are waiting for the day 11 September at hours 18,30 taken the recycling centre of Ibla, to find out more about the workshops, Learn about the results achieved in recent months and figure out together what are the future prospects for the recycling centre.

There is nothing more modern and innovative land protection, enhancing and maintaining the excellence of which the latter is equipped with, as in the case of Francofonte. From this simple, but at the same time Central, philosophy is the idea of the festival. A different vision of life than ever before, that educates citizens to "best practices". These include surely the short food chain, repair, the reuse of materials and recycling. Many other concepts make up the final goal "zero territory", and the "glue" of these ideas, projects and above all experiences, is definitely the "sharing". Appearance which results in the need to bring together the reality "environmentally sustainable" active in our territory, with the recipients of these initiatives, that is, consumers. The manifestation, programmed for the whole day, will involve, precisely, farmers and traders of products locally with its tasting them, operators engaged in the field of renewable energy and sustainable mobility (Zero Emissions), artists and craftsmen of recycling (for Zero waste). The hybrid and electric vehicles will be available to the users.
At the end of the second Conference will be a fashion show curated by Ricicreo Farah and at the end of the evening there will be a concert of TALEH.
